About this program
The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) awards the James H. Wilkinson Prize for Numerical Software every four years for an outstanding and innovative numerical software package or contribution to existing software in scientific computing. The prize includes $3,000, a certificate, and conference presentation opportunities, with the next award scheduled for the 2027 SIAM Conference on Computational Science and Engineering.
Candidates must generally be within 12 full-time-equivalent years of receiving their PhD as of January 1 of the award year, with exceptions possible for equivalent career stages; for the 2031 award, the PhD must have been received on or after January 1, 2019. Nominations must include author CVs, a two-page software summary, an accompanying algorithm/software paper, and a documented software archive containing examples, tests, and execution scripts.
