James Jones First Novel Fellowship

About this program

The James Jones Literary Society and Wilkes University’s Maslow Family Graduate Program in Creative Writing offer the annual James Jones First Novel Fellowship, awarding $12,000 to an American writer with an unpublished novel in progress; first and second runners-up receive $3,000 and $2,000. Applicants must not have previously published a novel, including a self-published novel, although publication of other forms of writing is permitted. Submissions require the first 50 pages, a two-page synopsis, and an anonymous manuscript with a cover letter, and must be submitted electronically with a $33 entry and processing fee by March 15 annually.
