The American Geriatrics Society (AGS) offers the Jeffrey H. Silverstein Memorial Award to recognize emerging junior and mid‑career investigators in surgical and related medical specialties whose research focuses on geriatrics; the award includes a $1,000 prize and presentation at the AGS Annual Scientific Meeting. Eligible applicants are faculty no more than 10 years beyond completion of post‑graduate training in eligible specialties (e.g., anesthesiology, emergency medicine, general surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, otolaryngology, PM&R, radiology/radiation oncology, thoracic, urology, vascular) and must be committed to a sustained research career in the geriatrics aspects of their discipline. Candidates must demonstrate a record of aging/geriatrics research accomplishments (for example, a first‑author original research publication, pilot funding, lead presenter of prior abstracts, at least two national poster/oral presentations, or PI on a research grant) and submit a nomination form with an abstract for the AGS meeting, an NIH‑style biosketch (≤5 pages), an applicant letter, one letter of recommendation, and a 150‑word summary of achievements.
