John Adam Fleming Medal — AGU Union Medal recognizing original research and technical leadership in geomagnetism and space physics

About this program

The American Geophysical Union awards the annual John Adam Fleming Medal for original research and technical leadership in geomagnetism, atmospheric electricity, aeronomy, space physics, and related sciences; the honor (established 1960) confers Union Fellowship and public recognition. Recipients receive an engraved medal, induction into the AGU College of Fellows (subject to three consecutive years of membership or hardship exception), recognition at AGU’s annual meeting, and two Honors Reception tickets; a submission window is listed as 5 January–2 March. Nominees must be experienced senior scientists and established leaders; nominations may be peer- or self-submitted but nominators and co-nominators must be active AGU members and all parties must comply with AGU conflict-of-interest and professional conduct policies.
