John Jungck Prize for Excellence in Education

About this program

The Society for Mathematical Biology awards the John Jungck Prize for Excellence in Education to honor significant contributions to education in mathematical biology, including distinguished classroom instruction, mentorship, development of novel educational methods or materials, outreach to the public or youth, recruitment of new students to the field, or creation of an exceptionally supportive educational environment. The recipient receives a $500 cash award and a certificate and is expected to give a talk at the Society’s Annual Meeting. Eligible candidates are individuals with a demonstrable, distinguished record in one or more of these educational activities at any career stage, with nominations typically documenting impact on teaching, mentorship, curricular or outreach innovations, and evidence of attracting or supporting students in mathematical biology.
