John Koegel Latin American/Latinx Music Fellowship

About this program

The Society for American Music offers the John Koegel Latin American/Latinx Music Fellowship, an annual competitive award supporting research on Latin American musical life (including South America, Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean, and related global representations). Awards up to $2,000 may be used for archival or ethnographic research expenses such as travel, books, and media. Applicants may be scholars at any career stage but must be members in good standing of the Society for American Music. Application materials include a one-page letter with contact information, a current full CV, a narrative up to three double‑spaced pages describing project scope and contribution, and a one‑page project budget; recipients must submit a one‑page budget and a final report to the Executive Director within one year.
