About this program
The International Association for Great Lakes Research (IAGLR) offers the John R. (Jack) Vallentyne Award to recognize sustained, significant efforts to educate the public and policymakers about large lake issues and advance protection and restoration. The award is open to individuals or teams working on any large lake, including the North American and African Great Lakes, and recipients are announced at the annual Conference on Great Lakes Research. Nominees must have at least 20 years of substantial, nonlocal education or outreach contributions; IAGLR membership is not required. Nominations, due February 1, must include an IAGLR member’s nomination letter, the nominee’s resume, and at least three support letters.
