Joseph C. Mitchell Grant in Herpetology

About this program

The Herpetologists’ League offers the annual Joseph C. Mitchell Grant, a $1,000 award to one non‑student herpetologist to support research that culminates in a peer‑reviewed manuscript or presentation on any aspect of amphibian or reptile biology. Applicants must be members in good standing of the Herpetologists’ League, not currently enrolled in a degree program (degree already attained, preferably an advanced degree), and propose original work that is not fully supported by other funding and would likely not be completed without this award. One proposal per applicant per year (previous winners ineligible); submit a single PDF (cover page from HL site, ≤1200‑word proposal, detailed budget, two‑page CV) and arrange for one letter of support to be sent separately to the grant contacts by 1700 PST on the first Friday of December.
