Julian Hinds Award

About this program

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) administers the Julian Hinds Award, endowed in 1974 to recognize the most meritorious contributions to water resources development (e.g., multi-purpose irrigation, flood control, municipal/industrial water, hydroelectric projects); the lead author receives a wall plaque and an honorarium determined annually, with co-authors receiving certificates. Eligibility is limited to individuals holding any grade of ASCE membership. Nominations must include a nominator-signed cover letter, the nominee’s CV/biographical information, and two or three letters of recommendation, and are reviewed by the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) Awards Committee with recommendation to the ASCE Board of Direction. Nominees not selected are held for the next two selection cycles (three-cycle limit) and the annual nomination deadline is October 1.
