About this program

The Kentucky Academy of Science provides Undergraduate Research Funds for faculty‑supervised undergraduate research at Kentucky colleges and universities, offering Supply Grants (up to $500 for supplies/expendables) and Summer Undergraduate Research Grants (up to $3,000 for supplies, equipment, project‑related travel, and a student summer stipend). Awards are made to the institution of the faculty sponsor, do not cover indirect costs or conference travel, and recipients are expected to present their work at the KAS annual meeting. Both the undergraduate awardee and the faculty sponsor must be KAS members and affiliated with a Kentucky college or university; applications must include a project abstract, a 1,000‑word project description, an itemized budget, CVs, institutional endorsement, and required IRB/IACUC approvals before funding. Grants run for one year, unspent funds must be returned, and a final written report is required (failure to file the report may bar future funding).
