Kurt Gottschalk Science Fund

About this program

The Society of American Foresters’ Kurt Gottschalk Science Fund offers grants of up to $5,000 for applied forestry research, outreach, continuing education, leadership, and knowledge-transfer projects that advance science-informed forest management. Projects must address at least two fund goals and may support research supplies, travel, field or laboratory student stipends, and up to 50% of eligible technical or analytical equipment costs. Applicants must be SAF members serving as designated project managers, and projects must be prospective, managed through an appropriate fiscal entity, and completed within 18 months. Proposals are due March 15 and must include a project narrative, objectives, methods, budget, outcomes, and dissemination plan.
