KY INBRE Faculty Start-Up Awards

About this program

The Kentucky IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (KY INBRE) offers year-round Faculty Start-Up Awards to match institutional seed funding by up to $25,000 for recruiting junior faculty and establishing undergraduate-focused, externally fundable biomedical research programs. Funds may support laboratory equipment, supplies, core facilities, summer salary, and undergraduate research assistants, but not animals, research participants, experiments, or travel. Eligible applicants are Kentucky colleges and universities outside the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville that qualify for NIH R15/R16 funding and are recruiting a new tenure-track assistant professor in an NIH-relevant field. Requests must be submitted during recruitment and included in the employment offer, with institutional cost sharing, research space, and at least 25% teaching release required.
