KY INBRE Research Project Awards (RPA)

About this program

The Kentucky IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence (KY INBRE) offers competitive Research Project Awards of up to $50,000 in direct costs for one year to support biomedical research that can lead to successful NIH R15 (AREA) or R16 (SuRE) applications. Funds may cover supplies, equipment, core facilities, limited travel, summer salary, undergraduate research assistants, faculty release time, and student tuition, with F&A costs provided separately. Applicants must follow the applicable NIH R15 or R16 application guidelines, submit a complete application with required institutional, mentor/collaborator, and NIH program officer support letters, and obtain relevant IRB/IACUC approvals and human-subjects certification. Institutional approval, attendance at the KY INBRE grant-writing workshop, and submission through the applicant’s eligible KY INBRE institution are required.
