Lavender Rhetorics Award for Excellence in Queer Scholarship

About this program

The Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), a constituent organization of the National Council of Teachers of English, presents the Lavender Rhetorics Award annually for excellence in queer scholarship in rhetoric and composition. Four awards recognize a book, article or book chapter, dissertation, and nontraditional scholarly text published or conferred in 2025 or 2026, based on originality, scholarly or pedagogical contribution, affective impact, and potential influence.

Authors and nominators must be members of CCCC and/or NCTE at the time of nomination, and self-nominations are encouraged. Nominations, including a one-page contribution statement and the required electronic work or link for all categories except books, must be submitted to cccc@ncte.org by August 1, 2026.
