Lester F. Eastman Award

About this program

The IEEE Electron Devices Society, funded in part by the Lester F. Eastman endowment, awards the annual Lester F. Eastman Award to recognize outstanding achievement in high‑performance semiconductor devices; the prize carries $5,000 and a certificate and is presented at IEDM or another EDS flagship conference. Eligibility is open to any person active in the field of semiconductor devices, regardless of IEEE EDS membership, though candidates cannot be nominated for the same work that has already received an IEEE Technical Field Award, Medal, or other society‑level award. Selection emphasizes impact on the field, leadership and professional interaction, and requires tangible supporting evidence (e.g., publications, patents, transitions to practice); nominations are submitted via the society’s nomination form by the stated July 1 deadline and are not automatically carried over.
