About this program

The Immigration and Ethnic History Society (IEHS) presents its Lifetime Achievement Award on occasion to recognize exemplary contributions to the field of immigration and ethnic history. The Distinguished Service Award honors individuals who have served IEHS or the broader field, although it was consolidated into the Lifetime Achievement Award beginning in 2020. Recipients are selected by the IEHS president in consultation with past or present Society officers and other appropriate individuals; no open application process or specific eligibility requirements are stated.
