About this program
The American Historical Association offers Littleton-Griswold Research Grants of up to $1,000 for research in US legal history and the broader field of law and society. Funds may support travel, archival access, reproduction costs, research assistance, childcare, and other expenses related to research in progress. Applicants must be AHA members, with preference given to advanced doctoral students, nontenured faculty, and unaffiliated scholars with specific research needs; recipients may not receive more than $1,500 in combined AHA research grants within five years. Applications require a CV, a 750-word project and budget statement, and a one-page bibliography, and are due February 15, 2026.
