M. Powell Lawton Distinguished Contribution Award for Applied Gerontology

About this program

Division 20 of the American Psychological Association offers the M. Powell Lawton Distinguished Contribution Award for Applied Gerontology to recognize contributions that improve the quality of life of older adults. The recipient receives a plaque and $1,500 award at the annual APA convention; nominations are due April 15, 2027.

Nominees need not be Division 20 members but must be nominated and endorsed by a Division 20 member. Materials must include a nomination letter, current CV, evidence of impact on older adults, the nominee’s statement of current and future work, and at least two additional support letters, including one from a Division 20 member.
