About this program
The African Studies Association (ASA) has established the Mahmoud Mohamed Taha Student Travel Award, supported by a gift from Dr. Steve Howard, to fund student research, study abroad, and travel to present work at the ASA Annual Meeting and to promote exchange of ideas in African studies. Awards are competitive and given to students who have demonstrated outstanding scholarship; nominations may be submitted by ASA members or by currently enrolled students themselves. Applications open online in December 2023 for the 2024 award cycle, and applicants who are African or of African descent residing in the U.S. will be prioritized.
