Mark Scholar Awards

About this program

The POLY Division of the American Chemical Society administers the biennial Mark Scholar Awards (established 2006) to honor excellence and leadership in basic or applied polymer science, presented at the fall ACS National Meeting in even-numbered years. One award is given in each age category—Mark Young Scholar (age 35 or younger), Mark Scholar (36–49), and Mark Senior Scholar (50 or older) as of January 1 of the award year—and recipients receive a plaque, a $1,500 honorarium, and are expected to present at a symposium organized by POLY. Nominees must be members or affiliates of the POLY division (nominators must also be members/affiliates) and are evaluated on research accomplishments, teaching, technical leadership, and scholarly works. Nominations are due November 1 of odd-numbered years and must be submitted as a single PDF by email to carleel@vt.edu including a completed application, one nomination letter (≤2 pages), a tailored CV (≤2 pages), and a complete list of scholarly works.
