Mary Jane Oestmann Professional Women's Achievement Award

About this program

The American Nuclear Society (ANS) presents the Mary Jane Oestmann Professional Women’s Achievement Award to recognize outstanding personal dedication and technical leadership by a woman in nuclear science, engineering, research, or education; the prize includes an engraved plaque, a $1,000 monetary award (or the option to receive that amount as travel reimbursement) and up to $1,500 toward travel to attend the ANS Winter Conference. The award may recognize lifetime achievement or a singular significant technical contribution and is intended for women who may not yet have the tenure or visibility for other ANS honors. Nominees may be of any nationality but must be living at the time of selection, need not be ANS members but should be affiliated with the nuclear community, and nominations (due August 1) must include a completed form, a nominator’s letter, a narrative summary (up to 1,000 words), a brief resume with publications/patents (two pages), and optional supporting letters (up to five).
