Materials Theory Award

About this program

The Materials Research Society (MRS), via the MRS Foundation, presents the annual Materials Theory Award to recognize exceptional advances in materials theory that deepen fundamental understanding of the structure and behavior of materials, honoring both pioneers of new theoretical approaches and those who apply existing approaches to generate significant new insights. The award carries a $5,000 cash prize, a presentation trophy and certificate, and reimbursement for meeting registration, transportation, and hotel to attend the MRS meeting where the award is presented. Eligibility is nomination-based; nominees should have a demonstrated record of pioneering theoretical development or significant theoretical contributions to materials science, and full nomination rules, eligibility criteria, and required materials are provided on the MRS website.
