Medard W. Welch Award

About this program

AVS’ Medard W. Welch Award recognizes outstanding theoretical and/or experimental accomplishments in surface and vacuum sciences, honoring work completed within the ten years preceding the award and giving special consideration to nominees actively engaged in scientific or technical careers; candidates may be drawn from academia, government, or industry. The award includes a cash prize, medal, plaque, an honorary lectureship at the AVS International Symposium, and reimbursement of travel to the presentation meeting. Current AVS Board of Directors and Awards Committee members are ineligible, Awards Committee members may not nominate or support nominations, and any individual may provide a nominating or supporting letter for only one candidate per award in a given year; no application deadline is listed (open).
