Medwin Prize in Acoustical Oceanography

The Acoustical Society of America awards the Medwin Prize in Acoustical Oceanography to recognize continuing research accomplishments of young and mid‑career scientists who use sound to advance understanding of physical and biological processes in the sea; research based solely on computer models is not eligible. Applicants may self‑nominate or be nominated, need not be ASA members, and must be under 46 years of age on 1 January 2017 with a demonstrated primary interest in acoustical oceanography through publications and oral presentations. Nominations/applications must include a nominating or cover letter, two supporting letters (on letterhead and signed), a full CV, and five abstracts of published papers; applicants must also supply names and contacts of two individuals asked to send supporting letters directly to ASA—submit PDFs by email to asa@acousticalsociety.org by 19 October 2026 (notification by 30 December 2026). The 2027 award carries a $2,000 stipend and certificate, to be presented at the ASA spring 2027 meeting where the recipient is expected to attend and deliver the Acoustical Oceanography Prize Lecture.
