Mineral & Metallurgical Processing Division (MPD) Elevator Pitch Contest

About this program

The Mineral & Metallurgical Processing Division (MPD) of SME, exclusively sponsored by Nevada MPD, is hosting an Elevator Pitch Contest for mineral and metallurgical processing students with cash awards ($1,000 first, $500 second, $200 for 3rd–5th, and $125 for additional participants). The contest promotes speaking skills and short mining-related presentations that may be featured in a future MPD virtual engagement. Eligible participants are students in mineral/metallurgical processing who must submit a brief letter of intent by October 27 outlining their topic and key takeaway, followed by a 3–4 minute recorded elevator pitch due November 24; videos are judged on clarity and presentation and should emphasize personal experience (use of slide backdrops is discouraged). Submit both materials or direct questions to contest chair Aaron Noble at aaron.noble@vt.edu; winners announced in early December.
