The Mississippi Center for Rural Health and Population Studies offers the Conrad State 30 J-1 Visa Waiver Program, providing an opportunity for foreign physicians to waive their residency requirements and work in underserved areas of Mississippi. This program aims to address the shortage of physicians in rural regions, offering a three-year commitment in exchange for a J-1 Visa waiver.

Eligible applicants include primary care physicians, psychiatrists, and sub-specialty trained physicians, with a non-refundable application fee of $2,000. Medical facilities in certain counties, as specified by the Appalachian Regional Commission, are not eligible to recruit primary care physicians through this program, except for psychiatrists and specialists.
