MLSC Women’s Health Initiative

About this program

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) Women’s Health Initiative provides approximately $3 million for each disease focus area, supporting collaborative, translational research on pregnancy-induced hypertension and perimenopause/menopause. Projects may address AI and data science, disease biology, research and development, or clinical adoption, with up to $6 million available overall. Eligible applicants must be full- or part-time employees and principal investigators at Massachusetts-based nonprofit research institutions, proposing human-health projects focused on sex/gender differences or conditions affecting women solely, disproportionately, or differently. Funding must support experiments with clear translational objectives, such as patent filings, sponsored research agreements, or additional industry support.
