Monie A. Ferst Award

About this program

Sponsored by the Georgia Institute of Technology Chapter of Sigma Xi, the Monie A. Ferst Award honors science and engineering teachers who have inspired students to achieve significant research accomplishments. The national award includes a medal and $10,000 prize, presented at a symposium highlighting the achievements of the recipient’s former students.

Candidates must be nominated by April 30, 2027, with a single PDF containing a two-page nomination letter, the candidate’s résumé, and five endorsement letters, including at least three from former students or postdoctoral researchers. Selection is made by a committee of Sigma Xi and Georgia Tech representatives, former recipients, and at-large members.
