Mountaineering Fellowship Fund Grant

About this program

The American Alpine Club’s Mountaineering Fellowship Fund provides typically $300–$1,000 grants to support climbers pursuing ambitious expeditions, including remote-area climbs, unclimbed peaks, and difficult new routes; funds may cover travel, gear, and related expenses. Applicants must be U.S. citizens age 25 or younger at the December 31 deadline, be current AAC members, and demonstrate appropriate mountaineering experience and a strong project proposal. Individual members of an expedition may apply, but organized groups and applications for climbing instruction are ineligible; proposals must involve expeditions occurring within one calendar year of the award. Applications are generally accepted October 3–December 31, with recipients expected to submit an expedition report and support AAC stewardship and outreach efforts.
