MSA Student Travel Awards

About this program

The Mycological Society of America (MSA) Student Travel Awards provide travel funding to student members or applicants who are presenting a paper or poster at the MSA annual meeting; awards are administered by the MSA Travel Awards Committee and are named for notable mycologists. Applications are submitted via MSA’s online form with the deadline listed as February 1 (before midnight Pacific Time); awards are paid by ACH or wire and require completion of W-9/W-8 tax forms. Eligible applicants must be current MSA student members or have applied for membership at the time of application and must submit an application form, abstract (indicating paper or poster), a CV (≤3 pages), a one-page research description, and a letter of support from the major professor uploaded separately by the recommender. Awardees must provide a short biography and photo within two weeks of notification, retain receipts and tax documents, submit a short MSA article within one year and a detailed final report within two years, and preference is given to applicants who have received the award fewer than two times when applications exceed available awards.
