NAVA Artists' Benevolent Fund

About this program

Offered by the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA), the Artists' Benevolent Fund provides modest one-off financial assistance to Australian visual artists whose practice has been disrupted by disasters, emergencies, serious illness or major accidents to help them regain capacity to practice. The Fund typically awards $2,000 (applications assessed at the start of each month) with larger amounts possible depending on need and fund capacity; support is intended for living costs, studio costs, medical expenses or disaster recovery/repair rather than ongoing obligations, debts or project funding. Eligibility is limited to Australian visual artists affected by unexpected catastrophic events; applicants should email nava@visualarts.net.au with a brief outline of their situation, the impact on their practice and how funds will be used, noting that resources are very limited.
