New Zealand Plant Protection Medal

About this program

The New Zealand Plant Protection Society awards the New Zealand Plant Protection Medal to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to plant protection through research, education, implementation or leadership; the award is a medal (no monetary component) presented at the society’s annual conference dinner in August. Nominations must be submitted using the society’s application form with an electronic copy sent to the society secretary and received by 1 July; nominators and seconders must be NZPPS members while nominees need not be members. Nominees are normally expected to reside in New Zealand (overseas candidates with strong New Zealand connections may be considered) and must be willing to give a live or pre-recorded keynote at the NZPPS conference the day after the award. Selection is by the President, Past‑President and another executive member (with replacement for conflicts of interest), and the medal may not be awarded if no suitable nominations are received.
