Newberry Artist-in-Residence Fellowship

About this program

The Newberry Library offers Artist-in-Residence Fellowships to support artists developing projects that engage with the library’s collections through research and residency. Applicants of any nationality may apply, with international scholars eligible for J-1 visa sponsorship. Applications must include a project abstract, description, explanation of collection relevance, résumé, two English-language references, and work samples, and are due by 11:59 p.m. CT on January 3. Applicants may not apply for another short-term fellowship for the same project if they previously received an artist-in-residence or short-term fellowship.
