About this program

The APA Minority Fellowship Program (MFP), funded by SAMHSA, offers the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (MHSAS) Fellowship to support doctoral training and professional development in culturally competent mental health and substance abuse care for communities of color. Benefits include stipends/living allowances (up to 3 years for MHSAS; up to 1 year for STAY), travel to the APA convention, limited dissertation support, ancillary training, and mentorship. Eligible applicants are doctoral (and qualifying master’s) students in clinical, counseling, school psychology or related mental health programs whose training prepares them to provide counseling, therapy, testing, and assessment, with priority for trainees from communities of color committed to serving underserved populations.
