About this program

The European Association of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anaesthesia and Intensive Care (EACTAIC) offers Research Grants of up to €30,000 per year (which may be split into up to three €10,000 awards) to support original research in cardiothoracic/vascular anaesthesia and intensive care. Applications open 1 April 2026 with a deadline of 1 July 2026; proposals are reviewed and scored by the EACTAIC Scientific Committee and final awards (typically decided in February) are announced at the EACTAIC Annual Congress. Applicants must be EACTAIC members aged 40 or younger who are intending specialists or within the early years of appointment as cardiothoracic specialists, with projects originating from an anaesthesiology/critical care department; submissions must include a full research protocol (background, hypothesis, methodology, statistical methods and power analysis for clinical studies), expected duration, realistic financing plan, institutional support letters, evidence of seeking other funding, and a statement whether funding sought is partial or whole (partial awards may be conditional).
