Oil and Gas Compensatory Mitigation Grant Program

About this program

Colorado Parks and Wildlife offers the Oil and Gas Compensatory Mitigation Grant Program to support perpetual private-land conservation easements held by qualified third-party land trusts, with limited consideration of CPW fee-title acquisitions and CPW-held easements. Funding, derived from oil and gas mitigation fees, supports habitat conservation, restoration, and enhancement projects and is available year-round with biannual reviews.

Applicants must be Colorado-certified qualified land trusts in good standing, submit the required application worksheet, and propose a project meeting the applicable CPW regional requirements. Projects generally must be permanent conservation easements located in designated counties, data analysis units, or priority areas, with preference for high-priority habitat, proximity to oil and gas disturbance, and adjacency to protected lands.
