Outstanding Practitioner Mentoring to Eliminate Racial, Ethnic and Cultural (REC) Disparities Award

About this program

The American Psychology-Law Society (AP-LS) Practice Committee offers the Outstanding Practitioner Mentoring to Eliminate Racial, Ethnic and Cultural (REC) Disparities Award to honor forensic psychology mentors who advance social justice and reduce REC disparities; the annual recipient receives $500, a plaque at the AP-LS conference, and a feature article in the AP-LS newsletter. Eligible nominees must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, PsyD, EdD), self-identify as predominantly practicing forensic psychologists (approximately 75% of professional work), and demonstrate a record of mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral trainees, or early-career professionals with impact on REC disparities and BIPOC representation. Self-nominations are permitted and AP-LS membership is not required; nomination packages (PDF, max 25 pages) emailed to practice@ap-ls.org must include a ~1–2 page nominee statement addressing BIPOC-centered work, the nominee CV, and a mentee support letter, submitted by January 1, 2027.
