Paleontological Society Strimple Award

About this program

The Paleontological Society’s Strimple Award recognizes outstanding achievement in paleontology by amateurs and provides $2,000 to be used toward travel to the Society’s annual banquet at the GSA meeting. Eligible candidates are avocational paleontologists who do not make a living full‑time from paleontology; recognized contributions include research and publication, notable collections, preservation/public service, teaching, and collaborations. Anyone may nominate (no membership required) by submitting a single PDF via the Society’s nomination form with nominee and nominator contact information, certification of amateur status, a description of achievements (max three pages), and supporting letters/documents; nominations received after Feb 15 are deferred to the following year, remain active for three years and may be updated annually, and the selected awardee must complete a Professional Conduct Self‑Reporting Form.
