About this program

Pau Casals UNESCO Chair, in collaboration with the Pau Casals Foundation, UOC and the National Archive of Catalonia, offers the 2026 Research Grant Program to fund early-stage academic projects (€2,000 award) at the intersection of music, culture, peace, democracy and human rights, with accompanying mentorship, dissemination/publication opportunities and access to archival resources. Projects must address at least one focus area: Pablo Casals’ musical legacy; his humanistic legacy (peace, democracy, human rights, international justice); culture for peace and social justice; or music and intangible cultural heritage. Applicants must be of legal age, any nationality, and affiliated with a university, higher education institution or recognized research group; eligible academic levels are bachelor’s, master’s, postgraduate and doctoral research, and projects must be early-stage (not previously funded or completed). Submit a single PDF (personal data, academic background, detailed proposal, CV, motivation letter) in Catalan, Spanish or English online by 12 April 2026 (11:59 pm); results announced before 11 May 2026 and final research due 2 May 2027, with selection based on alignment, originality, methodological rigor and publication prospects (preference for projects using the Pau Casals Collection).
