About this program

The California Energy Commission’s K–12 Energy Efficiency Program (KTEP) offers zero-interest loans, funded through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, for energy-efficiency retrofits and renewable-energy projects at California K–12 schools. Eligible applicants are California local educational agencies, including school districts, charter schools, county offices of education, and state special schools; additional terms apply to charter schools. No matching funds are required, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and loans are disbursed through reimbursement upon submission of receipts, invoices, and proof of payment.
