Population Health Research Award (Presidential Award)

About this program

Mississippi Academy of Sciences (MAS) offers the Presidential Population Health Research Award to recognize individuals demonstrating leadership and vision in advancing population health, scientific education, and influence on public health policy. The honor includes a plaque, recognition at the MAS Awards Ceremony, and web and national exposure; recipients are selected by the MAS Council and the award may not be given annually if criteria are unmet. Nominees must be active MAS members in the year of nomination and submitted by an MAS council member, with a nomination letter (≤500 words), current CV, 1–3 reference letters (one from an MAS active member; each ≤500 words), and copies of the three most recent peer‑reviewed population health publications. Judging emphasizes at least a decade of sustained scientific/population health productivity, leadership and mentorship, and diversity representation; submissions are due December 5 with notifications by January 10 annually.
