The California Department of Education, in partnership with the California Health and Human Services Agency, offers the Preschool Development Grant Renewal (PDG-R) to enhance California's early learning and care system, particularly for underserved populations such as infants, toddlers, and low-income families in rural areas. The grant focuses on increasing support for family, friend, and neighbor care providers, family child care providers, and home-visiting providers, with total funding of $9,647,000. Eligible applicants are public agencies that are part of a local quality improvement system (QIS) or quality rating and improvement system (QRIS) consortium, required to implement a QIS/QRIS incorporating the Quality Continuum Framework. This grant does not require matching funds and operates on a reimbursement basis.
