President’s Medal (ANZSCDB)

About this program

The Australia and New Zealand Society for Cell and Developmental Biology (ANZSCDB) awards the President’s Medal, its highest honour instituted in 2002, to recognise a career of outstanding achievement in cell and developmental biology in Australia or New Zealand; the annual prize includes a pure silver medal, an invited lecture at a Society meeting, free registration and up to AUD 2,000 toward travel and accommodation. Eligibility is limited to researchers based in Australia or New Zealand, with ANZSCDB membership preferred though strong non-members may be nominated, and nominations are sought by member suggestions to the ANZSCDB President. Required nomination materials are a one-page nominator statement addressing the selection criteria and the candidate’s CV; assessment is weighted 40% scientific achievement, 40% leadership/engagement/mentorship and 20% national/international profile, and nominators may note circumstances that limited productivity (e.g., COVID‑19). Unsuccessful nominees remain eligible for up to two additional years (maximum three), the preferred candidate must confirm availability to attend the meeting before the award is made, and the Society emphasises fairness, equity and diversity in assessment.
