Professor Hering Memorial Research Fund (BENHS)

About this program

British Entomological & Natural History Society administers the Professor Hering Memorial Research Fund to support entomological research—particularly on leaf miners, Diptera (notably Tephritidae and Agromyzidae), microlepidoptera and general entomology—with awards to assist travel, fieldwork, equipment, collection study and, exceptionally, publication costs (awards unlikely to exceed £600 in 2026). Applicants must submit a completed application form and a brief research outline (maximum 300 words); only one application per research project is accepted each year. Successful recipients are required to submit an article to the Society’s journal and/or present a poster at the Society’s Members Day or Annual Exhibition; work is not restricted to the British Isles and proposals linked to UK recording schemes are welcomed.
