Proposition 4 – Water Recycling

About this program

The State Water Resources Control Board offers Proposition 4 Water Recycling funding to support construction of projects that beneficially reuse treated municipal wastewater and augment California’s freshwater supplies. Eligible activities include recycled water treatment, storage, distribution, pumping, groundwater recharge, potable reuse, surface water augmentation, and large-scale recycling projects; awards range from $1 to $15 million, with grants generally covering 35% of eligible construction costs. Eligible applicants include local public agencies, qualified California 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public utilities, eligible Native American tribes, and mutual water companies, with all community types eligible. Operation and maintenance costs are ineligible, and applicants must provide a 50% match.
