Proposition 68 – Water Recycling

About this program

The California State Water Resources Control Board offers Proposition 68 Water Recycling grants to support construction projects that beneficially reuse treated municipal wastewater and augment California’s freshwater supplies. Eligible activities include recycled water treatment, storage, distribution, pumping, groundwater recharge, indirect potable reuse, and surface water augmentation; grants reimburse 35% of eligible construction costs, up to $15 million per project, with no matching funds required. Applicants may include local public agencies, qualified California 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public utilities, eligible federally or non-federally recognized Native American tribes, and mutual water companies. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis through June 30, 2027; operation and maintenance costs are ineligible.
