Proposition 68 Water Recycling

About this program

The State Water Resources Control Board offers Proposition 68 Water Recycling funding to support local agencies in constructing water recycling projects aimed at augmenting freshwater supplies in California through the beneficial use of treated municipal wastewater. Eligible projects include recycled water treatment, storage, distribution, groundwater recharge, indirect potable reuse, and surface water augmentation. Applicants must be local public agencies, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, public utilities, federally or non-federally recognized Native American tribes, or mutual water companies. Grants cover 35% of eligible construction costs up to $15 million per project, with a total funding pool of $3,000,000 and a performance period until June 30, 2027.
