Ray Sylvester Distinguished Service Award

About this program

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi offers the Ray Sylvester Distinguished Service Award once every three years to recognize sustained, uncompensated volunteer service beyond academia. The recipient receives a recognition citation, lifetime membership, and a $1,000 donation to a nonprofit organization of their choice. Eligible nominees must be nonstudent members initiated by February 1, 2022, maintain active membership through April 1, 2027, and demonstrate at least six years of substantive service and measurable impact; service cannot be part of their employment or consist solely of financial donations. Applications, including a nominator’s cover letter, CV, and one to three support letters, are accepted December 15, 2026, through April 1, 2027, with convention attendance expected.
