Regional Conservation Investment Strategies

About this program

The California Wildlife Conservation Board offers statewide grants to support development of Regional Conservation Investment Strategies (RCIS), voluntary, science-based plans that identify regional conservation priorities and actions to protect, restore, create, and reconnect habitat for vulnerable or declining California species. Approximately $2 million is available for projects with grant terms of two to four years; matching funds are not required but may strengthen applications. Eligible applicants include public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and tribal governments, with priority given to areas lacking a regional conservation plan, proposals with secured cost share, and applicants demonstrating readiness and qualifications. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
