About this program

The American Psychological Association’s Committee on Socioeconomic Status (CSES) invites nominations for the CSES Leadership Awards (Emerging and Distinguished Psychologists) to honor psychologists, psychology students, and organizations whose work advances understanding of socioeconomic status and improves the well‑being of socioeconomically disadvantaged populations. Recognized activities include research on the impacts of poverty and SES on health, education, and welfare; development of psychological interventions addressing SES effects; and advocacy for policies that reduce SES disparities. Nominations, including self‑nominations, are accepted; Distinguished awardees are typically more than 15 years beyond their terminal degree with sustained leadership in SES issues, while Emerging awardees are typically within 15 years of their terminal degree with substantial contributions and demonstrated promise (deadline: June 26, 2026).
